Eating Right For Your Hair

We all hear on a regular basis these days how, “we are what we eat”, but in this day and age, these words ring truer than ever.

The good news is that we can change our destiny and eat to make our skin and hair better than it is now. The bad news is if you have lost all of your hair or have some irreparable damage done to your scalp and hair that has caused your hair to fall out and not grow back, even this may not help. Just want to be honest here. But we won’t know this until we try and the things to try with are good for your body anyhow. The worst that can happen is that you will end up with a healthy body and feel good.

Eating Right For Your Hair

We are a funny lot, the human race; we spend thousands and millions, even, on beauty treatments and clothes etc. We will spend all the money needed to take care of our pets and make sure they have the right diet and we will be ever so careful with our children and clothe them and feed them with the best food (as we should in my humble opinion).

However, when it comes to ourselves and taking care of this human body we inhabit and only have one of, we often (not always and not all of us) treat it like a never-ending resource. We eat junk food, greasy fries and drink all the drink and then wonder why we do not feel well. Our bodies are very well oiled machines. They know what they need to function and when they are not given the fuel to run at an optimum performance, we can find ourselves at the short end of the stick, so to speak. Our skin looking lack-lustre and our hair being dry and/or falling out.

So, what is a person to do? Well, not to sound like a broken record, but eating a well-balanced diet that is rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants, a diet rich in Zinc and vitamin C and K also, and water! Now you might say that you can get these things from vitamins in a jar, which is true, but it is a much better thing you do for your body to eat a diet rich in these foods.

Specific foods that are good for your hair and skin are: oatmeal, eggs, avocado oil, coconut oil, dark leafy green veggies, tomatoes, pineapple, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, garlic, and hemp seeds. For those of you who choose to add meat to your diet fish and oysters add zinc and omega fatty acids.

These are just a few very healthy food ideas that will help you on the way to healthy happy bodies which, in turn, give you healthy heads of hair, good skin, and all the other benefits that come with being healthy.

Cheers! Here’s to your health!
